Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

By booking a service, purchasing a product, or allowing installation work to proceed, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Definitions

In these Terms & Conditions:

  • “We”, “Us” and “Our” refer to OJ Dashcam & CCTV Melbourne.

  • “You” and “Customer” refer to the individual or business purchasing products or services from us.

  • “Services” include dashcam supply and installation, hardwiring, battery-pack installation, CCTV installation, troubleshooting, inspection and related services.

  • “Products” include dashcams, CCTV cameras, battery packs, memory cards, hardwire kits, accessories and other equipment supplied by us.

2. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms & Conditions apply to all products and services supplied by OJ Dashcam & CCTV Melbourne unless otherwise agreed in writing.

By confirming a booking, purchasing a product or allowing work to commence, the customer confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

3. Quotes and Pricing

  • Quotes are based on the information provided by the customer and generally apply to standard passenger vehicles and standard installation conditions.

  • Additional installation fees may apply to utes, vans, commercial vehicles, European vehicles, luxury vehicles or vehicles requiring complex trim removal, extended cable routing, special mounting or custom wiring.

  • Travel fees may apply for locations more than 40 kilometres from Springvale.

  • Prices may change if previously undisclosed or unforeseen complications are discovered.

  • We will inform the customer before carrying out additional work that may result in additional charges.

  • Promotional offers cannot be combined unless otherwise stated.

  • Pricing provided by telephone, text message or online may be adjusted if the vehicle, property, equipment or installation conditions differ materially from the information originally supplied.

4. Bookings, Cancellations and Rescheduling

  • Bookings may be confirmed verbally, by telephone, text message, email, social media message or online enquiry.

  • Cancellations or requests to reschedule should be made at least 12 hours before the scheduled appointment.

  • Repeated cancellations, last-minute changes or failure to attend may result in us refusing future bookings or requesting a booking deposit.

  • We may reschedule an appointment due to unsafe weather, illness, vehicle access issues, stock delays or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

  • Appointment times are estimates. Traffic, previous appointments, weather and unexpected installation complications may cause delays.

5. Mobile Installation and Access

The customer must provide:

  • Safe and legal access to the vehicle or property.

  • Sufficient working space around the vehicle or installation area.

  • A reasonably safe, dry and suitable working environment.

  • Access to the vehicle keys and any required property areas.

  • Permission from the vehicle or property owner for the installation.

  • A vehicle that is able to start and operate normally.

  • Access to electricity, internet, Wi-Fi or a compatible mobile device where required for the service.

For mobile installations, we reserve the right to stop, postpone or relocate the work where the location, weather, lighting, traffic, ground conditions or surrounding environment is unsafe or unsuitable.

6. Vehicle Condition and Pre-Existing Issues

The customer must inform us before installation of any known:

  • Battery or charging-system problems.

  • Electrical faults or warning lights.

  • Water leaks.

  • Damaged, loose or previously removed trims.

  • Airbag or safety-system problems.

  • Aftermarket electrical accessories.

  • Previous dashcam, alarm, stereo, tracking-device or accessory installations.

  • Vehicle modifications or previous repair work.

We are not responsible for faults, damage or operating problems caused by pre-existing vehicle conditions or defects that were not caused by our installation.

We are not responsible for a vehicle battery becoming flat during or after installation where the battery was already aged, weak, damaged, insufficiently charged or affected by an existing vehicle or charging-system problem.

7. Installation Disclaimer

Dashcam and CCTV installations may involve removing or adjusting trims, panels, seals, fittings and other components.

While reasonable care is always taken:

  • Minor movement of clips or normal wear may occur during installation, particularly on older vehicles or structures.

  • We are not responsible for pre-existing scratches, marks, broken clips, brittle plastics, deteriorated trims, loose panels, previous repair work or previously modified wiring.

  • We are not responsible for problems caused by work previously performed by another installer, mechanic, auto electrician, dealership, repairer or third party.

  • Compatibility with aftermarket accessories, vehicle modifications or third-party equipment cannot be guaranteed.

  • We may refuse or stop an installation where we reasonably believe the work could create a safety risk or cause damage.

Nothing in this section limits our responsibility for loss or damage directly caused by our failure to provide the service with due care and skill.

8. Customer-Supplied Dashcams and Equipment

We provide professional installation services for customer-supplied dashcams and accessories.

However:

  • We do not provide a separate product warranty for customer-supplied equipment.

  • We are not responsible for missing parts, damaged cables, incorrect hardwire kits, firmware problems, compatibility issues, manufacturer defects or faults with customer-supplied products.

  • The installation fee remains payable if the customer-supplied equipment is faulty, incomplete, incompatible or unable to operate correctly.

  • Additional labour charges may apply if faulty customer-supplied equipment must be tested, removed, replaced or reinstalled.

  • Customers should test customer-supplied equipment before the installation appointment where reasonably possible.

  • Our 1-year workmanship warranty applies only to the installation work performed by us and not to the operation, quality or durability of customer-supplied equipment.

9. Vehicle Electrical and Safety Systems

Modern vehicles may contain sensitive electronics, airbags, cameras, sensors and driver-assistance systems.

  • We take reasonable care when working around vehicle electrical and safety systems.

  • We do not intentionally modify, disconnect or interfere with airbags or other safety systems unless the work has been specifically agreed and can be performed safely and lawfully.

  • We are not responsible for faults caused by existing wiring problems, manufacturer design limitations, vehicle software updates or third-party modifications.

  • Certain vehicles may require alternative installation methods due to manufacturer restrictions or sensitive electrical systems.

  • We may refuse an installation where we reasonably believe it could create an unacceptable safety or damage risk.

10. Parking Mode and Vehicle Battery Disclaimer

Parking mode may operate using power from the vehicle battery or a dedicated dashcam battery pack.

Without a dedicated battery pack:

  • Parking-mode duration depends on the condition and charge level of the vehicle battery.

  • Parking mode may operate for only a short period before the dashcam’s battery-protection system shuts it down.

  • Parking-mode duration is not guaranteed.

  • Driving habits, battery condition, vehicle type, temperature, voltage cut-off settings and dashcam settings can affect operating time.

We are not responsible for reduced parking-mode duration or battery discharge caused by:

  • An aged, weak or damaged vehicle battery.

  • Infrequent or short-distance driving.

  • Vehicle electrical or charging-system faults.

  • Customer changes to voltage settings or dashcam settings.

  • Manufacturer firmware or vehicle software updates.

  • Accessories or equipment installed by another party.

  • The customer leaving the vehicle unused for an extended period.

  • The customer selecting a voltage cut-off setting against our recommendation.

A dedicated dashcam battery pack is recommended where longer parking-mode coverage is important.

11. CCTV Installation

CCTV installation pricing is based on the agreed number of cameras, property type, installation locations and access conditions.

Additional charges may apply where:

  • Additional cameras or accessories are requested.

  • Special mounting equipment is required.

  • Roof access, cable routing or structural work is more complex than expected.

  • Camera locations change after the quotation or after work has commenced.

  • Wi-Fi extenders, network equipment, electrical work or additional labour is required.

  • The property contains difficult mounting surfaces, hidden obstructions or restricted access.

The customer is responsible for:

  • Providing safe access to the property and installation areas.

  • Providing a suitable internet connection, Wi-Fi network, modem and compatible mobile device where required.

  • Creating and maintaining their CCTV application account and login details.

  • Maintaining any required cloud-storage subscription.

  • Ensuring that camera placement and use comply with applicable privacy, surveillance and property requirements.

  • Obtaining permission from the property owner, landlord, owners corporation or other relevant party where required.

  • Maintaining suitable solar exposure where solar-powered cameras are installed.

CCTV performance may be affected by internet speed, Wi-Fi signal strength, weather, solar exposure, battery condition, app updates, manufacturer server availability and third-party network equipment.

We cannot guarantee uninterrupted recording, notifications, remote access, internet connectivity or that every incident, person, vehicle or registration plate will be captured clearly.

12. Installation Workmanship Warranty

We provide a 1-year installation workmanship warranty, beginning from the date the installation is completed.

This voluntary workmanship warranty covers faults directly caused by installation work performed by OJ Dashcam & CCTV Melbourne.

Where a valid workmanship fault is confirmed, we will rectify the installation fault within a reasonable time without charging the customer for the rectification labour.

The workmanship warranty does not cover:

  • Vehicle-related electrical, battery or charging-system problems.

  • Product or manufacturer faults.

  • Problems with customer-supplied equipment.

  • Accidental or deliberate damage.

  • Water, fire, collision, weather or environmental damage.

  • Damage caused by another installer, mechanic, auto electrician, dealership, repairer or third party.

  • Equipment that has been moved, removed, rewired, disconnected or modified after installation.

  • Customer changes to settings, wiring, voltage cut-off settings or firmware.

  • Problems caused by vehicle software or firmware updates.

  • Normal wear and tear.

  • Issues unrelated to the original installation work.

13. Warranty Claim Procedure

If the customer believes there is a problem with our installation, the customer must contact OJ Dashcam & CCTV Melbourne as soon as reasonably possible.

To make a workmanship warranty claim, the customer should provide:

  • Their name and contact details.

  • Proof of purchase or installation invoice where available.

  • The vehicle registration or property address connected with the installation.

  • The approximate installation date.

  • A clear description of the problem.

  • Relevant photos, videos, warning messages or other information reasonably requested by us.

The customer must give us a reasonable opportunity to:

  • Inspect the vehicle, product and installation.

  • Diagnose the reported problem.

  • Determine whether the problem was caused by our workmanship, the product, the vehicle, the property or another cause.

  • Rectify a confirmed workmanship issue within a reasonable time.

The assessment may be performed through a mobile appointment, remote troubleshooting or at another location reasonably agreed between us and the customer.

If the issue creates an immediate safety risk, the customer should stop using the affected equipment where safe to do so and contact us as soon as possible.

14. Third-Party Diagnosis, Repairs and Expenses

Except in an urgent safety situation or where otherwise permitted under the Australian Consumer Law, the customer must give OJ Dashcam & CCTV Melbourne a reasonable opportunity to inspect and rectify the reported installation problem before authorising another person or business to perform diagnostic, removal, modification or repair work.

The customer must obtain our prior written approval before incurring third-party costs that they expect OJ Dashcam & CCTV Melbourne to pay or reimburse.

Under our voluntary workmanship warranty, we are not responsible for third-party:

  • Diagnostic or inspection fees.

  • Mechanic, dealership or auto-electrician charges.

  • Removal or reinstallation costs.

  • Repair or replacement costs.

  • Labour charges.

  • Travel or call-out charges.

  • Towing, transport or hire-vehicle costs.

  • Reports, testing or other expenses.

This applies where those costs were incurred without our prior written approval, except where reimbursement is required under the Australian Consumer Law.

An invoice, report or opinion from another installer, mechanic, dealership, auto electrician or third party does not automatically establish that the issue was caused by our installation.

Where a third party removes, rewires, disconnects, modifies or repairs the installation before we have been given a reasonable opportunity to inspect it, we may be unable to confirm the original cause of the reported problem.

In those circumstances, a claim under our voluntary workmanship warranty may be declined or limited to the extent that:

  • The third-party work prevents us from reasonably determining the original cause.

  • The installation has been altered from its original condition.

  • The claimed fault can no longer be verified.

  • The third party caused or contributed to the problem.

  • Additional damage occurred during the third-party work.

This section does not remove any rights the customer may have under the Australian Consumer Law. For example, where we refuse or fail to rectify a minor failure within a reasonable time, the customer may have rights under the Australian Consumer Law to arrange rectification elsewhere and recover reasonable costs.

15. Warranty Assessment Fees

If our inspection determines that the reported problem was not caused by our installation workmanship, a reasonable call-out fee, travel fee, diagnostic fee or additional labour charge may apply.

This includes problems caused by:

  • The vehicle or vehicle battery.

  • Customer-supplied equipment.

  • A manufacturer or product fault.

  • Accidental or external damage.

  • Another installer or repairer.

  • Customer changes to wiring, firmware or settings.

  • A matter unrelated to our original installation.

Any applicable charges will be explained to the customer before chargeable repair or additional work is performed where reasonably possible.

No workmanship rectification labour fee will apply where we confirm that the issue was directly caused by our installation and is covered by the 1-year workmanship warranty.

16. Product Warranty

The manufacturer’s stated warranty periods for eligible dashcams supplied by us are:

  • Redtiger dashcams: 18-month manufacturer warranty

  • VIOFO dashcams: 18-month manufacturer warranty

  • BlackVue dashcams: 3-year manufacturer warranty

The warranty period begins from the original purchase date unless the manufacturer’s terms state otherwise.

Warranty periods for CCTV products, battery packs and other accessories will be those stated at the time of purchase or provided by the relevant manufacturer.

Customers may contact OJ Dashcam & CCTV Melbourne regarding products purchased from us. We may inspect the product and, where appropriate, communicate with the supplier or manufacturer as part of the warranty process.

Manufacturer warranty coverage does not normally include:

  • Accidental damage.

  • Misuse or incorrect operation.

  • Unauthorised modification or repair.

  • Water or environmental damage not covered by the manufacturer.

  • Damage caused by a vehicle or property electrical fault.

  • Lost or stolen products.

  • Damage caused by incorrect removal or reinstallation.

  • Problems caused by unsupported memory cards, accessories or firmware.

  • Cosmetic damage that does not affect operation.

  • Normal wear and tear.

Products may need to be inspected, tested, removed or returned to the supplier or manufacturer before a warranty outcome can be determined.

Removal, reinstallation, travel, call-out and diagnostic fees may apply where permitted by law and where the issue is not caused by our installation workmanship.

Manufacturer warranties and our voluntary workmanship warranty are provided in addition to the customer’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

17. SD Cards and Recorded Data

MicroSD cards are consumable storage products that naturally wear over time due to continuous recording.

No separate voluntary warranty is provided by us for SD cards supplied as part of a package, promotion or complimentary offer. This does not exclude any rights that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law.

The customer is responsible for:

  • Regularly checking that the dashcam or CCTV system is recording.

  • Formatting the SD card as recommended by the manufacturer.

  • Replacing worn or faulty memory cards.

  • Saving important footage before it is overwritten.

  • Regularly checking camera position, date, time and recording settings.

  • Checking recordings after firmware, app or vehicle-software updates.

We do not guarantee that footage will always be recorded, available, clear or recoverable.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for lost, corrupted, overwritten or unavailable footage caused by memory-card failure, device failure, incorrect settings, impact damage, power interruption, software issues or failure to regularly inspect the system.

18. Payment Terms

  • Payment is due immediately upon completion of the service unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • We accept cash, bank transfer and eligible card payments.

  • Until 30 September 2026, card payments may incur a surcharge of up to 1.5%, provided that the surcharge does not exceed our permitted cost of accepting that payment type.

  • From 1 October 2026, card-payment surcharges will not be applied where prohibited by applicable card-network rules or law.

  • Ownership of products supplied by us remains with OJ Dashcam & CCTV Melbourne until full payment has been received.

  • The customer should inspect the installation and raise any immediately visible concerns before the technician leaves where reasonably possible.

  • Unpaid invoices may be referred for recovery, and reasonable recovery costs may be charged where permitted by law.

19. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

  • We do not guarantee that a dashcam or CCTV system will prevent theft, collision, vandalism, property damage or other incidents.

  • We do not guarantee that recorded footage will identify a person, vehicle or registration plate in every situation.

  • We are not responsible for lost business, missed events or unavailable footage where the issue was not caused by our failure to comply with applicable consumer guarantees.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies liability, consumer guarantees or customer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.

20. Australian Consumer Law

Our products and services are supplied subject to consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded by these Terms & Conditions.

Depending on whether a failure is major or minor, a customer may be entitled to remedies such as repair, replacement, refund, cancellation or compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

For a minor problem with a service, the customer must generally give us a reasonable opportunity to rectify the problem within a reasonable time.

If we refuse or fail to rectify a minor service problem within a reasonable time, the customer may have the right to arrange for another provider to rectify the problem and recover reasonable costs.

Our 1-year workmanship warranty and any manufacturer warranty are additional to, and do not replace or limit, rights and remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or modified.

21. Privacy

Customer information may be used for:

  • Providing products and services.

  • Communicating about appointments and warranty claims.

  • Processing payments and maintaining business records.

  • Communicating with manufacturers or suppliers regarding product support.

  • Meeting taxation, insurance and legal obligations.

We will not sell customer information to third parties.

Information may be provided to manufacturers, suppliers, insurers, payment providers or government authorities where reasonably required to provide the service, process a warranty claim or comply with the law.

22. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The latest version published on our website will apply to bookings and purchases made after the updated version is published.

The version applying at the time of the original purchase or installation will continue to apply to any voluntary warranty provided with that purchase or installation, unless a later version provides the customer with greater benefits.
